THIS SITE BEGAN AS A HOME for web design at a time when hand-crafting websites in code was a valuable way for individuals and small, or even medium-sized, businesses to get themselves a presence on the web. Increasingly for small businesses quick and easy ways to create professional looking websites without any coding skills became available and so made us redundant on that front; but websites remain a cheap form of publication for non-commercial purposes and that is what we now focus on.
A website can look pretty much however you want it to. There are constraints of course but also amazing freedom. For the site above right, for example, we went for a Star Trek Voyager look because that happens to be one of the photographer's favourite shows.
Once the overall look is established, additional pages cost next to nothing and the website can be expanded indefinitely. If you're an artist, your website can become your online gallery, curated however you wish. You can add commentary, videos, memoirs or pretty much anything you could wish for in an ideal exhibition at the Tate, or whatever your favourite gallery is. Your imagination is pretty much the only limit there is.
A WEBSITE CAN IN FACT become pretty much like a book; and as it happens we have converted some websites quite straightforwardly into printed books. If only one or two copies are needed, it can be quite expensive; but no more than two or three times what you'd expect to pay for a similar book in the shops. This is not bad if you only want a few copies for something like family photo album
Print more copies and the price rapidly falls to about the same as you would pay for a normally published book.
