LORNE WAGMAN
Opens Thursday, June 4th, 5-9pm One of the finest Landscape Painters in Canada, Wagman began his career showing with Toronto's renowned ISAACS GALLERY. A highly prolific artist, Wagman lives and breathes painting. Working out of his farmhouse studio in Owen Sound, Lorne captures the countryside by finding a balance between realism and abstraction with an impressionist flare. Expressive brush strokes combined with bright, contrasting colours and beautifully expansive skylines (reminiscent of both Van Gogh and the Group of Seven's Lawren Harris) make Lorne Wagman one of the most sought after Canadian artists. Renann Isaacs was exposed to Wagman’s work 25 years ago at her father’s gallery. When asked by owners Tom Dowd and Corinne Maloney to curate Alma Gallery exhibitions, she decided to go ahead and pursue some of her favourite artists. Wagman was at the top of her list! “The more familiar you are with Lorne’s art, the more in tune you become with his perspective.” A MUST SEE Lorne Wagman is in private, public and corporate collections throughout Canada and abroad.
The Flesherton Art Gallery is very pleased to announce the next exciting show in our 2009 season. A show of landscape paintings by renown painter Lorne Wagman. The show starts on Saturday 16 May with an opening reception beginning at 7:30pm to 10:00pm. Running to June 27.
It's been said about Lorne's work that: So please come and join us for this wonderful show

" The Luminous Landscape "
Andy Berman, Napoleon Brousseau, Lorne Wagman
Opening Thursday September 15th 6 to 9 pm
In this show we find three artists in the pursuit of the luminous light through three diffrent processes.
Artists statements: "Influenced by the black and white works of Ansel Adams and Gerhard Richter, my current paintings investigate the fluidity and random form of atmospheric cloudscapes. Empirically, my interest lies within the depiction of duality, and the subtle distinction between the observation of an abstraction, and the recognition of realism." -Andy Berman "Exploration of color frequencies, shifting pixels, mechanical rotary printing, taking my cue from and duplicating a digital signal, this is where my luminous pursuits in painting take me. Implied content, ambience, designed to fit into the star making machine of television, my paintings are like actors that expand into new representations in front of the camera.” -Napoleon Brousseau "All my paintings are based on reality, as I see it. The watercolors were all painted outdoors, directly from nature. The oils are my re-interpretation, they are even more true to the scene, as they have gone through the filter of my memory and imagination, and that is the truest, most multidimensional depiction of my interaction with nature." –Lorne Wagman gallery hours: wednesday to saturday 12 to 6 Sun 1 to 5 for an appointment or more information call: 416 824 6258
